10 cool fonts to use for your next project!
The fonts that you choose for your designs have a huge impact on the user or your design. Keeping this in mind, we need to be careful and choose the most appropriate fonts for the design.
Believe me! It’s not easy! But once we start to realize patterns for the usage of fonts, it becomes more intuitive.
Here is a list of 10 fonts that I thought were really usable! All of the fonts that I have mentioned below are free and open source (courtesy of Google fonts)! They are found here!
1. Roboto
I personally really like to use this sans-serif font as it looks very neat and clean literally anywhere. This font is used widely due to its ability to provide a nice experience to the eyes on any screen size.

2. Lato
This is another very widely used sans-serif font (used on 9.6 million websites to be exact!). Lato has been used in various physical publications, including information signs and election campaign billboards. It gives a clean and modern look. One more reason to use it is that it can be paired with various other fonts.

3. Montserrat
This is a great font because it can be used in a variety of places including websites, editorials, branding purposes, publishing, and more! It looks very modern due to its geometric simplicity.

4. Poppins
Poppins gives many variants (18 to be exact!) from light to black, which makes it useful for both heading and general texts. Along with that, it is very clearly readable on any screen size making it a popular option for both mobile and the web.

5. Raleway
This font really has a different charm to it! The way it keeps the reader glued to itself is amazing. It is a minimalist font and it would be really wonderful if you have this font in your toolkit. It is highly legible making it a widely used font for print and the web.

6. Nunito
A nice, even, rounded font…looks friendly anywhere, especially in headings! This will work well in works like your portfolio. It is a type of neo-grotesque font.

7. Playfair Display
A serif font that can be effectively used to make headings look fashionable. An advantage is that it can be used if the space available is less. Although it looks elegant anywhere, I would not recommend it for general text.

8. Quicksand
I personally really like this font as it gives a really soft look to the overall text. This sans-serif font is my go-to font when I want to design for a general audience (i.e. for no specific audience). It may also be ideal for delicate logos.
Fun fact: It has support for many regional languages as well!!

9. Merriweather
This sans-serif font is designed to be a text face and is really pleasant to read on screens of all sizes. It really adds a professional look anywhere on the website or print media.

10. Shadows Into Light
Although this isn’t really a font to be used everywhere, I wanted to include this in my list because it’s a really cute font! This is a good choice when working on personal projects, or when working with something informal. It adds a personal touch to the project by giving the effect of actual handwriting.
